Ingredients

Grains
  • 8 oz. Caramalt
  • 4 oz. Golden Naked Oats
  • 4 oz. Chocolate
Extracts
  • 3.3 lbs. Gold Malt Syrup
  • 1 lb. Light DME
  • 1 lb. Clover Honey
Hops
  • 1 oz. Challenger (60 min)
Yeast
  • White Labs English Ale Yeast

Brewing Notes

3 gallon boil. Grains steeped at ~150F for 30 minutes. Extract, honey and Challenger Hops boiled for 60 minutes. Wort was chilled and the yeast was pitched. After 3 weeks in the primary, it was transfered to a secondary. A couple weeks later it was kegged.

This came out pretty well. It's a fairly light beer, at least compared to the stouts we've been favoring lately. Similar to Smithwick's, but a bit lighter perhaps. On CO2, it's not bad. You can tell that this beer is designed for nitrogen though. I think the creaminess that nitrogen provides would compliment this brew really well.
